Rating by category:
it is ivery good locationn, close to center and museum district.
This was the second time I stayed on business at the Hotel Nicolaas Witsen. It is a simple hotel but very affordable, clean and confortable. Great location.
The room was quite expensive for what you got! Other than that, I was happy with the hotel. All staff I ecountered were friendly and helpful.
clean room, competent staff, good breakfast - one of the best hotels I have stayed in in Amsterdam considering its relatively low price...
Well located, in a cozy neighborhood, outside of the crowded center but near the museums and Heineken Museum (walking distance). 10 minutes to reach the center with tram. Decent space in the room for a 3 stars hotel in Amsterdam.
The heater in our room didn't work properly so during night was very cold. Avoid the rooms in the last floor during cold seasons. Extremely poor breakfast considering the price paid and rating of the hotel (3 stars).
The staff is very friendly, the location is great, free wifi. The hotel offers discounts for booking excursions and city tours.
Nice part of town if being close to the Red Light District doesn't matter.
The hotel was clean, and situated nicely in a quiet area on the edge of the loop of main canals, which was only a half hour leisurely stroll from Dam square. This may seem a little far, but on route to the centre is also lovely, and the Amsterdam charm stretches further than just the very centre! The museum district is very close too. Also, the breakfast was excellent, lots of choice and tasty choices too! One day they didn't have croissants, but they had an alternative and many more things so this wasn't a problem! Overall, a good stay!
The room was very basic, for instance, no hairdrying or tea/coffee making facility. However, this was hardly a disaster. There was a mix up with their website which led me to believe I was going to have a bath in my room, which wasn't the case. This has since been rectified.
Very good location, appreciate helpful personal, close to tram line, can recommend.
The location was great - walking distance to the major museums and to the transit system.
The bed was comfy, the food was fresh (many tipes of bread), but not so divers. It's close to the center (4-5 tram stations to Dam square). In a walking distance to Heineken Experience, some museums and Canal Cruise (near Hard Rock Cafe).
It has no AC, so it's kinda' hot in the room, and no refrigerator...
My wife and I were traveling with our 2 year old and a 3 month old. We spent 4 nights in Amsterdam. As anyone with young children will know, keeping them entertained is critical to the parent's sanity. Luckily, there is a park about 5 minute walk from the hotel which is very good and kept our two year old engaged. Each day we went to a park and did some site seeing. The staff at the hotel was exceptionally helpful, even when we ran out of formula and had to make an emergency excursion to find some. We stayed in a triple room with a pack'n play which was provided by the hotel. The pack'n play and linens were clean and functional. Breakfast was predictable. They had 1 high chair. The hotel is 30 minute walk from Central station and is in a very quiet area. We found that a nice treat at the end of the day when we were bringing our tired kids back. The room was thoroughly cleaned each day.
The room was smaller than I expected for a triple, but that is Amsterdam. And the room was humid. I think this is a the result of being on the first floor during one of the rainiest seasons on record. Everything else worked as promised.
We enjoyed our stay very much. It is in a quiet location near to many attractions and in short walking distance of good restaurants. The room was comfortable, if a little small and breakfasts excellent with plenty of choice. Staff were friendly and helpful. I thoroughly recommend it.
The hotel staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The hotel was in a quiet location and easily accessible to the trams; just a 2 minute walk away. Breakfast was very good. No evening meals at the hotel but there was an excellent restaurant area just a short walk away.
Friendly staff, best possible location, price.
